How our tools will work
Every FloorGauge calculator will show its inputs, its assumptions and its limits. A number you cannot interrogate is not useful.
Documented inputs and assumptions
Each tool will state what it asks for, what it assumes when you leave something out, and what it deliberately excludes from the result.
Ranges, not false precision
Cost outputs are presented as planning ranges. Flooring prices vary by region, product, site conditions and scope; a single national figure would be misleading.
Quote checking
The Quote Checker will compare an estimate against planning ranges and highlight the line items that commonly explain differences — prep, tear-out, disposal, transitions, stairs and access. It is a comprehension aid, not an appraisal.
Waste and coverage math
Material calculators will apply waste factors based on layout complexity and pattern, and will round to real purchase units such as boxes, rolls or bags.
Limits
- Results are planning estimates, not quotes or bids
- They do not replace an on-site assessment
- Manufacturer instructions and local code take precedence
Changes
When a calculator's logic changes in a way that affects results, we will note it on the tool.
