How to find square feet per box
Carton coverage is printed on the end of the box and listed in the product specification sheet, usually as square feet per carton. Use that figure rather than a plank count.
Why box quantities must be rounded up
Cartons are not sold in fractions, so any partial box becomes a whole box. A calculation of 46.01 boxes and one of 46.99 both mean buying 47.
Why actual overage may exceed your selected waste
Rounding up to whole cartons usually pushes the purchased quantity past your chosen allowance. A 10% selection can land near 11% in practice. That is expected.
How much extra flooring should you keep?
Keeping some matching material after installation can help with future repairs or replacement pieces. Decide that deliberately rather than adding boxes at random.
Why carton coverage can vary by product
Plank size, thickness and the number of planks per carton all differ between products and even between colors in the same line. Always check the specific carton you plan to buy.
